JAMMU : At least nine labourers were killed and two injured when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in snow-bound Kishtwar district.
“Nine labourers were killed and two injured when a vehicle carrying them last night fell into a gorge in Aafti area of Warwan in Kishhwar district,” a senior police official said.
He said the labourers were working at the construction site of the road under PMGSY in Warwan area.
“Army and local police have rushed to the spot, which is one of the remotest area of the district,” the official said and added that rescue operation is still in progress, which is being affected due to bad weather and snowfall.
“No contact is being established with the rescue team so more details are awaited,” he added.
