9 including senior doc die of COVID, J&K toll 559

341 fresh cases reported from Valley

SRINAGAR, Aug 17 : Nine people including a senior doctor died of Coronavirus in Kashmir today taking the death toll to 559 while the Valley reported 341 COVID-19 cases including 35 security force personnel as J&K tally inched towards 29000 mark.
Nine patients who died include an 81-year-old senior retired doctor from Gil Kadal Srinagar, a 53-year-old woman from Panthachowk, a 75-year-old woman from Zakoora Srinagar, an 80-year-old man from Kakapora Pulwama, an 80-year-old woman from Natipora Srinagar, a 32-year-old man from Lassipora Budgam, a 70-year-old man from Chadoora Budgam, a 65-year-old man from Verinag Anantnag and a 75-year-old man from Maqdoom Sahab Hawal.
An 81-year-old retired Senior Chest Specialist from Gil Kadal who was admitted to Chest Diseases hospital in Srinagar on 13th August died today.
A 53-year-old woman from Pantha Chowk Srinagar who was admitted on 6th August to CD hospital died today.
A 75-year-old woman from Zakoora Srinagar who was admitted to CD hospital Srinagar on August 14 and an 80 year old man from Kakapora in Pulwama who was admitted on August 14 to CD hospital died today.
An 80-year-old woman from Natipora Srinagar who was admitted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar on 11th August, a 32-year-old man from Lassipora Budgam  who was admitted to the same hospital on 16th August and a 70-year-old man from Chadoora Budgam who was admitted on August 8, died today.
A 65-year old man from Verinag in district Anantnag who was admitted on August 4 and a 75 year old man from Makhdoom Sahab Hawal who was admitted on 13th August died today.
With nine more deaths, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 559 including 518 from Kashmir division and 41 from Jammu province.
And Kashmir valley today reported 341 COVID-19 cases including 35 security force personnel taking J&K tally to 28892.
The security forces include 20 army men whose samples were sent from BB Cantt Srinagar and 14 CRPF from various battalions and one police man.
Srinagar reported 48, Baramulla 9, Pulwama 42, Budgam 40, Anantnag 43, Kulgam 15, Shopian 6, Kupwara 46, Bandipora 49 and  Ganderbal 43 fresh cases today.
In Kashmir, Srinagar topped the list with 6960 cases followed by Baramulla with 2438, Pulwama 2095, Budgam 1828, Kulgam 1712, Shopian 1576, Anantnag 1815, Kupwara 1571, Bandipora 1476 and Ganderbal 963.
Moreover, 264 more COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals in Kashmir today.
