9-day long Navratra festival culminates with immersion of ‘Saakh’ in rivers

JAMMU, Oct 18: Immersing of Saakh in rivers after performing traditional pooja -archana on the occasion of Mahanavmi and performing of hawans and other religious functions marked the culmination of Navratra festival today.
A large number of devotees were seen busy from early in the morning in immersion of Saakh in different rivers of Jammu and Ranbir Canal after performing Kanjak poojan.
There was a heavy rush of devotees at Bikram Chowk and Harki Puri on the bank of river Tawi where the devotees had gathered to immerse the Saakh.
A heavy rush of devotees was also seen on the bank of Ranbir Canal where people including men, women and children had gathered to immerse the Saakh.
Rush of devotees was also seen at river Chenab (ChanderBagha ) in Akhnoor where people from different areas of Akhnoor and Jammu had come to immerse the Saakh.
Meanwhile there was heavy rush in the temples of Mata Durga during the nine days of Navratra festival and over 1.93 yatris visited the holy temple of Bawe Wali Mata at Bahu Fort during the nine days. By this evening upto 8 pm 31900 devotees had performed darshan in the holy temple. As per reports 5.5 lakh pilgrims visited the Chechi Mata temple in Samba, Sukhrala and Sundri Kot Mata temples in Billawar, Jodhawali Mata and Dhollawali Mata temples in Bani, Kali Mata temple in Jasrota, Kathua and Mata Sundribala temple in Nagri Parole, Kathua during the festival. These temples remained agog with religious festivities during these nine days.

Jammu and Kashmir Association of Prabhat Phery took out impressive Prabhat Pheris in holy township of Katra during the nine -days of Navratra festival in which the devotees coming for darshan of Mata from different parts of country also participated.
Chairman of Navratra Prabhat Phery Committee, Raj Kumar Padha said that the festival is celebrated with great devotion at Mata Vishno Devi during all nine days.
On the auspicious occasion of Navratra festival RMK Broadcasting Services presented Mata Raginaya Mahatmay and open air international class and sound show with visual and theatrical performance at Bahu Fort and Jagti on 17 and 18 October respectively.
MLA Ch. Lal Singh was the chief guest at Bawe function while Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsangh Ashram was guest of honour.
At Jagti Relief Commissioner, M L Raina was the chief guest. This was the first kind of such programme in the State on Mata Raginya Bhagwati said Kuldeep Saproo organizer. The story line of this international light and sound show presented the arrival of Mata to Tulmulla in Kashmir Valley from Sri Lanka. The design and direction as given by VijayDhar and others who contributed included L D Koul, Trustee Mata Kheer Bhawani Trust, Akash Dogra, Vir Ji Sumbly Shiv Dev Singh etc.
The nine -day long spiritual activity also culminated at Bhagawaan Gopinathji Trust Udaiwala Bohri with solemnization of hawan.
Hundreds of devotees thronged the Ashram daily in the morning to participate in the religious activities during the Navratra days. The spiritual activities were held in the Ashram from 9 am to 7-30 am daily to invoke blessings of mother Goddess.
The Hawan started yesterday evening and Puranahuti was performed this afternoon. This was followed by serving of Prashad to devotees.
A Mahayagaya on the occasion of Maha Navmi in honour of Ishit Devi (presiding deity) Bharg Shikha was performed in the premises of Martand Surya Bhawan, Paloura here. The Yagya started yesterday and culminated with Puranahuti this afternoon. This was followed by serving of Prashad to devotees. The bhajans were presented by renowned bhajan parties. Mahayagya on the occasion was also performed at Martand Shrine in Anantnag. MLA Sat Sharma, Swami Kumar Ji, Relief Commissioner, M L Raina, Ashok Kumar Sidha president of the Trust and A K Braroo V P, KP Sabha were present on the occasion.
Pushkara SwamiSewa Ashram cum Trust also celebrated the auspicious Navratra at its Chinore Bantlab Ashramm,, Jammu and Najfgarh Delhi. During the Navratra days bhajans and Kirtan was recited. Large number of devotees thronged the Ashram.
A K Hali Chairperson of the Ashram highlighted the significance of Navratras. The flag hoisting was performed by Chanda Jigri Zadoo one of the senior associates of the Ashram.
