9 bovines seized, smuggler held

RAJOURI, May 14: Foiling bovine smuggling bid, police in Rajouri district today arrested one person at Rajal in Nowshera and rescued nine milch animals being smuggled to Kashmir in a vehicle.
The bovine smuggling bid has been foiled by police party led by SHO Nowshera, Sumit Magotra in the jurisdiction of Nowshera Police Station, wherein vehicle bearing registration numbers JK11B 4694 carrying nine bovine animals was intercepted.
Taking cognizance of the matter, police has registered a case FIR No. 62/2024 under Sections 188 IPC & 11 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Act at PS Nowshera.
Commencing investigation, the vehicle used in commission of crime has been seized. The arrested person has been identified as Yasir Khurshid, son of Khurshid Ahmed, resident of Khablan, Tehsil Thanamandi.
