9 bovines seized, 4 smugglers flee

KATHUA, July 19: The police seized nine bovine animals at Bhagthli village near Kathua and nabbed one smuggler while four others managed to escape early today.
Reports said a police naka party, noticed five persons taking away nine bovine animals towards Punjab using short route of river Ravi. They were asked to stop by the ‘naka’ party. While four of them escaped leaving behind animals, one of them was nabbed. All the nine animals were seized by police.
It was found that they had no permission from the District Magistrate to transport the bovine animals. The arrested smuggler was identified as Saddam Hussain, son of Hassan Din, resident of Chak Desa Singh in Kathua. Four others were identified as Farman Ali, Mohd Shafi and Mushtaq Ahmed of Bhagthli and Faryad Ali of Logate village. A case was registered against them. The police was searching for the absconding accused persons.
