JAMMU, Feb 8: A total of 8945 cases were settled in National Lok Adalats held today across the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on the directions of National Legal Services Authority and under the guidance and supervision of Justice Gita Mittal (Chief Justice, High Court of J&K), Patron-in-Chief, J&K State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) and under the guidance of Justice Rajesh Bindal (Executive Chairman, J&K SLSA).
Mohinder Kumar Sharma, Member Secretary J&K SLSA, disclosed that out of 13554 cases taken up by 124 Benches in the day-long Lok Adalat at various courts across the UT’s of J&K & Ladakh, 8945 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 14,87,81,403 approximately was awarded as compensation/settlement amount in Civil, Criminal, Labour disputes, Electricity and Water Bills cases, Land Acquisition, Family Matters, Cheque dishonour and Bank Recovery cases.
The J&K High Court Legal Services Committee under the Patronage of Justice Geeta Mittal and guidance of Justice Rajesh Bindal and special guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Judge, High Court of J&K (Chairman High Court Legal Services Committee) organized a National Lok Adalat at both the wings of the High Court Jammu and Srinagar.
In Jammu wing of the High Court, three Benches were constituted, whereas, at Srinagar wing two Benches were constituted. In both the wings of High Court, a total 270 cases were taken up out of which eight cases were of MACT and one case of 561-A and seven cases of bank recovery. A compensation of Rs 53,50,000 was also awarded.
A National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex, Janipur Jammu under the chairmanship of R K Wattal Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Jammu, and under the overall supervision of Naushad Ahmed Khan, Secretary District Legal Services Authority,
A total number of 10 Benches were constituted at District Court Complex, Jammu. The first bench presided over by Kikar Singh Parihar, presiding officer, MACT Jammu and assisted by Tahir Khursheed Raina, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Jammu and Advocate Beauty Pandita (Retainer Lawyer, DLSA Jammu) dealt with MACT cases/Consumer cases and succession certificates.
The second Bench presided over by Nighat Sultana, Additional District Judge, Bank cases, Jammu and assisted by Virinder Singh Bhou (2nd Additional District & Sessions Judge Jammu) and Advocate Veena Julmaria (Retainer Lawyer, TLSC Jammu) dealt with Bank cases.
The third Bench headed by Kalpana Revo, Additional District Judge Matrimonial Cases Jammu and assisted by Naushad Ahmed Khan Secretary DLSA Jammu, dealt with Matrimonial cases while the fourth Bench was headed by Deepak Sethi, CJM Jammu and assisted by Rajni Bhagat, 3rd Additional Munsiff, Jammu.
The fifth Bench headed by Surjeet Singh Bali, Sub-Judge Special Mobile Magistrate Jammu, assisted by O P Bhagat, Municipal Magistrate, Jammu dealt with Municipal and Revenue cases whereas the sixth Bench presided over by Prem Sagar, City Judge Jammu and assisted by Smriti Sharma Sub-Registrar Jammu, dealt with Excise and Civil cases.
The seventh Bench headed by Pawan Sharma, Sub-Judge Jammu, and assisted by Preet Simran Kour, Munsiff Jammu, dealt with Criminal Compoundable and Petty Criminal offences while the eighth Bench headed by Sudesh Sharma, Sub/Judge Electricity Magistrate Jammu and assisted by Shabnam Sheikh, Forest Magistrate, Jammu, dealt with Electricity, Water and Passenger Tax cases.
The ninth Bench comprised of Sandeep Gandotra, Special Mobile Magistrate, Passenger Tax Jammu, and Parvez lqbal, Railway Magistrate, Jammu dealt with cases related to Passenger Tax, Railway cases and Civil cases of all nature while the tenth Bench comprised of Jeewan Kumar Sharma, 2nd Additional Munsiff, Jammu and Advocate Salil Gupta, Retainer Lawyer TLSC Jammu dealt with cases related to Traffic matters and Petty offences.
A total number of 835 cases were taken up, out of which 649 cases were decided. A total of Rs 4,86,54,760 was settled in the Lok Adalat. Lok Adalat Benches were also constituted at Tehsil Headquarters at Akhnoor, Bishnah, and RS Pura which were presided over by respective Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
A National Lok Adalat was organized today at District Court Complex Samba under the chairmanship of M A Chowdhary, Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Samba for taking up cases for settlement. Two benches were constituted for the said purpose. First Bench was headed by M A Chowdhary, Chairman DLSA (Principal District and Sessions Judge), Samba and assisted by Jyoti Bhagat (Additional Munsiff, Samba) for taking up of MACT cases, Pending Bank Cases, Pre-Litigation matters, Matrimonial Cases, Civil Suits and all cases referred by District Judge, Samba.
The second Bench was headed by Ajay Gupta (Chief Judicial Magistrate) Samba and assisted by Ajay Gupta (Advocate, Samba) for taking of Cr. Compoundable cases of all nature, NI Act and petty offences. A total no of 157 cases were taken up out of which 87 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 53,38,000 was settled.
A National Lok Adalat was also held under the chairmanship of Sumati Sharma (Munsiff) at Court Complex, Hiranagar in which 18 cases of different nature was taken up and settled amicably while an amount of Rs 3,45,000 was collected. Besides, 3 traffic challans were also disposed off and a total fine of Rs 3000 was realized on the spot.
In district Reasi, the Lok Adalat was organized by DLSA Reasi under the chairmanship of Kamlesh Pandit (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Chairman DLSA Reasi. 275 cases of different nature were taken up in the Lok Adalat out of which 186 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 68,71,450 was settled. The Lok Adalat was presided over by Kamlesh Pandit (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Chairman DLSA Reasi.
Four Benches for settling the referred cases were constituted. 1st Bench was presided over by Kamlesh Pandit, District Judge Reasi who was assisted by Rimpi Rani (Munsiff Reasi), 2nd bench was presided over by A S Langeh (Sub Judge, CJM Reasi) who were assisted by Anjum Ara, Secretary (Sub Judge), DLSA Reasi and Assma Choudhary (Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Reasi). Third Bench was presided over by Romesh Lal, Chairman TLSC (Sub-Judge) Katra who was assisted by Sunil Kumar, Munsiff Katra while 4th Bench was presided over by Rajeev Kumar Tadyal, Chairman TLSC (Munsiff JMIC) Mahore who was assisted by president of Bar Association Mahore and Tehsildar Mahore.
In District Court Complex, Udhampur, a Lok Adalat was organized today under the chairmanship of Mohan Lal Manhas, Chairman DLSA (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Udhampur. Lok Adalats were also organized at Tehsil headquarters, Ramnagar, Chenani and Majalta. In Munsiff Court Complex Majalta, the Lok Adalat was organized under the chairmanship of Priyanka Mahajan (Munsiff), Chairman TLSC Majalta. The Bench constituted for the Lok Adalat was presided over by Priyanka Mahajan (Munsiff), who was assisted by Saqib Saleem, Tehsildar Majalta, A total of 8 cases were taken up out of which 4 cases were disposed off amicably.
A total number of six Benches were constituted. The first Bench was presided over by Mohan Lal Manhas, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Udhampur and assisted by Advocate Vijay Lakshmi. The second bench was presided over by Shoba Ram Gandhi (Additional District and Sessions Judge, Udhampur) and assisted by Advocate Shallu Khajuria . The third Bench was headed by CJM Mohd Rafiq Chak and assisted by Girja Shavan (Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur). The fourth Bench was headed by Archana Charak (Sub Judge Ramnagar) and Advocate K D Singh. Fifth Bench was headed by Munsiff Amandep Kour and assisted by Advocate Tariq Mughal and the sixth bench was headed by Priyanka Gupta (Munsiff Majalta and Saidiq Saleem (Tehsildar Majalta).
A total of 233 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 177 cases were settled on the spot. A total amount of Rs 29,79,200 were realized in different cases settled on spot. An amount of Rs 22,05,000 was awarded as compensation in MACT cases while a total of Rs 2,7500 was realized in various bank cases and Rs 3,90, 00013 NI Act cases. Besides, fine amounting to Rs 1,09,200 was realized in respect of various criminal compoundable cases.
In a Lok Adalat organized at District Court Poonch, by DLSA Poonch Madan Lal (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Poonch. At District HQ, two Benches were constituted. First bench was presided over by Madan Lal Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Poonch while second bench was presided over by Som Lal CJM (Chairman TLSC Poonch) and assisted by Advocate Mohd Aslam Chouhan (Poonch). Surankote Bench was presided over by Ashan-Ul- Haq Malik (Chairman TLSC/Sub-Judge Surankote) and assisted by Shafiq Ahmed (Additional Mobile Magistrate Surankote) while Mendhar Bench was presided over by Raj Kumar Lalhal Chairman TLSC (JMIC) Mendhar who was assisted by Advocate Shafiq Ahmed Khatana and Advocate Basharat Hussain Khan.
A total no of 194 cases were taken up out of which 188 cases were settled. In MACT, 3 cases were settled while 26 criminal cases and 22 civil cases were also decided and a total amount of Rs 29,05,280 was settled.
A Lok Adalat was also organized at District Court Complex, Rajouri under the chairmanship of Jaffer Hussain Beg (Principal District and Sessions Judge, Rajouri). Three benches were constituted for the Lok Adalat. The first bench was headed by Kusam Lata Pandita (Additional District and Sessions Judge, Rajouri), who was assisted by OP Thakur (CJM Rajouri), Second bench was headed by Meyank Gupta, District Judicial Mobile Magistrate (T), Rajouri and assisted by Shaheen Ahmed Khan (PP Rajouri) while the third bench was headed by Tehsildar Rajouri and assisted by Junaid Hussain Choudhary (Advocate).
Similar Benches were also constituted at Tehsil Level which were headed by Presiding Officers of the respective courts. A total of 520 cases (both Pre-Litigation) and Post-Litigation) were taken up out of which 425 cases were disposed off while an amount of Rs 84,55,800 was settled. Thirty MACT cases were also taken up out of which 26 were settled and an amount of Rs 82,32,000 was awarded as compensation.
In District Court Kishtwar, the National Lok Adalat was held under the guidance and supervision of Sham Lal Lalhal, Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Session Judge) Kishtwar. Out of a total number of 163 cases taken up by two benches in the day-long Lok Adalat, 143 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 36600 was awarded as compensation/ settlement amount. The first Bench was consisted of Shudhir Kumar Khajuria, Sub-Judge/CJM Kishtwar and Syed Arif Hussain, Advocate while the second bench was consisted of Munish K Manhas, Munsiff/JMIC Kishtwar and Mohsin Ahmad Dar, Advocate Kishtwar.
A National Lok Adalat was held today under the Chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Ramban, Kishore Kumar (Chairman DLSA Ramban) in the District Court Complex, Ramban. Six benches were constituted for settlement of different types of cases. The first Bench was presided over by Chairman DLSA, Ramban and the 2nd Bench was presided over by CJM, Ramban, Pardeep Kumar Sandhu who was assisted by Munsiff JMIC, Ramban, Junaid Imtayaz whereas 3rd bench was presided over by Tehsildar Batote who was assisted by Advocate Z A Babbar.
The 4th Bench was presided over by Chairman TLSC (Munsiff JMIC) Gool, Sarfaraz Nawaz, who was assisted by Tehsildar Gool while the 5th Bench was presided over by Chairman TLSC (Munsiff JMIC) Banihal, Fidha Hussain and 6th Bench was presided over by Chairman TLSC (Munsiff JMIC) Ukhral, Imran Hussain Wani.
Out of total 544 cases taken up in the Lok Adalat, 402 were amicably settled through mediation and reconciliation. An award of Rs 1,10,11,454 was passed in MACT cases and Rs 12,96,950 was passed in different type of cases in the Adalat.
In the Lok Adalat held at District Kargil, 2 Benches were constituted, one at District Court Complex Kargil comprising of CJM Kargil and Tehsildar Kargil and another at Munsiff Court, Drass comprising of Munsiff Court Drass and BDO Drass. A total of 233 cases were taken up out of which 213 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 1,31,000 was settled in bank recovery cases while an amount of Rs 67,950 was recovered as fine on the spot.
TLSC Beerwah organized a Lok Adalat at Court Complex, Beerwah, under the patronage of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Beerwah, Imran Hanief Khan. During the Lok Adalat, 50 cases of different nature were taken up for their amicable settlement out of which 34 cases were settled by mediation and reconciliation. Besides, an amount of Rs 6900 was recovered as fine in traffic related matters.
In Srinagar, the National Lok Adalat was held in District Court Complex, Moomin-abad, Srinagar which was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, Abdul Rashid Malik. As many as 5809 cases were taken up for amicable settlement, by eight Benches constituted for this purpose. Out of these 3932 cases were settled and Rs 76,30,000 were awarded as compensation by MACT Srinagar while Rs 14, 49,100 were collected as settlement amount. Besides, a fine of Rs 14, 88,100 was also collected.
In Shopian, the DLSA Shopian organized a National Lok Adalat in which 893 cases of different nature were taken up by ten Benches for amicable settlement, out of which 721 cases were settled. An amount of Rs 50,068 was recovered as fine and Rs 3,47,000 recovered from the defaulters in bank recovery cases. Besides, an amount of Rs 31,00,000 was also realized in other cases.
In Pulwama, 350 cases of different nature were taken up in the National Lok Adalat organized by DLSA Pulwama, out of which 240 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 23,900 realized as fine. Besides, Rs 33,80,900 has been settled in bank recovery and MACT cases. Similar Lok Adalats were also held at Sub-ordinate courts in the district which were presided over by the respective Chairmen of TLSCs.
In Anantnag, 197 cases of different natures were taken up, out of which 127 cases including 60 traffic challans were settled amicably during the National Lok Adalat organized by the DLSA Anantnag. A compensation of Rs 10,38,500 under MACT, Rs 22,000 under traffic challans, Rs 80,000 under NAC and Rs 4,80,000 under civil cases were sanctioned during the Lok Adalat.
In Kupwara, DLSA Kupwara organized a National Lok-Adalat. As many as 402 cases were taken for amicable settlement by eight benches, out of which, 119 cases were disposed and an amount of Rs 56 lakh recovered in Bank recovery, MACT and Traffic violation cases.
In Ganderbal, DLSA Ganderbal organized a National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Ganderbal. The Lok Adalat took up 95 cases, out of which 59 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 4,92,000 was realized.
In Kulgam, a National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex Kulgam. 48 cases related to Bank recovery, MACT, labour dispute, family dispute and municipal cases were taken up by four Benches. Out of these, 24 cases were amicably settled and an amount of Rs.4,00,000 was sanctioned in favour of victims in MACT cases. Besides, Rs 1,10,713 was realized in electricity & water bills cases while an amount of Rs 5,100 were imposed as fine in criminal RPC and traffic challans.
