Dr Tandon heads IEC

JAMMU, Mar 2: Nearly 53 original clinical research projects were deliberated in a meeting of Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC), GMC, Jammu and out of which eight projects were deferred and rest all were provisonly approved.
Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal Dean GMC Jammu, expressed her satisfaction that institution has gone to next level of excellence with increasing interest of the faculty and students in research projects and said that every year IEC is now receiving proposal under ICMR, MRU and Other scientific research funding agencies, which is a welcome step for the growth of institution.
Departments of this institution like PSM, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Medicine and Paediatrics have taken a lead in research field, she said.
Chairperson IEC Dr Kuldeep Sharma, Former Dean Faculty of life sciences university of Jammu said research growth of GMC Jammu is happening at excellent pace and time is not far that it will match with other premier institutions of the State.
Newly appointed Member secretary – IEC, Dr Vishal R Tandon, extended thanks to chairperson, seniors members and in particular Principal Govenment Medical College, Jammu for bestowing such an important responsibility, for which, he said, he will try his best to come up to the expectation of the institution.
He said he will strictly follow the SOP of IEC as per Drug Controller General of India Norms. Under which the IEC, GMC Jammu is registered body.
