JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Dec 10: Eight persons died and 366 others tested positive for COVID-19 while 526 recovered from the virus in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir today.
Of eight Corona casualties, five were reported from Kashmir and three in Jammu.
Five victims in the Valley include a 75-year-old man from Awantipora in district Pulwama, a 70-year-old man from Dadoora Khag Poshkar in Budgam, a 70-year-old man from Zakura in Srinagar district, an 80-year-old woman from Khawaja Bazaar Hawal in Srinagar and a 75-year-old man from Pethbugh in Anantnag.
Three casualties in the Jammu region were reported from Jammu City and Gangyal in Jammu district and Chenani in Udhampur district. All of them were elderly citizens, co-morbid and positive for the virus.
Jammu region reported 170 new Corona positive cases today including 99 in Jammu district, 15 Rajouri, 12 Udhampur and 10 Doda while 331 persons recovered from the virus, the maximum being 105 in Jammu, 80 Samba, 41 Kishtwar, 35 Reasi, 23 Udhampur and 15 in Ramban district.
Jammu region now has 46840 Corona cases. Among them, 2329 are active positives while 43877 have recovered from the virus. There were 634 Corona casualties in the region.
Jammu district has highest 320 Corona casualties followed by 58 Doda, 53 Udhampur, 50 Rajouri, 44 Kathua, 34 Samba, 22 Poonch, 21 each Kishtwar and Ramban and 11 in Reasi district.
With five deaths, the total fatality count in the Valley has reached 1141.
Srinagar district with 430 deaths topped the list followed by Baramulla 165, Budgam 105, Pulwama 87, Kupwara 87, Anantnag 82, Bandipora 56, Kulgam 52, Ganderbal 40 and Shopian 37.
In Kashmir, 196 persons tested positive today.
Srinagar reported 63 cases, Baramulla 29, Budgam 28, Kupwara 20, Pulwama 19, Anantnag 11, Bandipora 11, Ganderbal 8, Kulgam 5 and Shopian 2 cases.
With today’s fresh cases, Srinagar has now 23974 positive cases with 1140 active, 22404 recovered, 430 deaths; Baramulla has 7674 positive cases with 177 active, 7332 recovered, 165 deaths; Pulwama reported 5249 positive cases with 179 active cases, 4983 recovered, 87 deaths; Kulgam has 2623 positive cases with 67 active, 2504 recoveries, 52 deaths; Shopian has 2397 positive cases with 82 active, 2278 recovered and 37 deaths; Anantnag district has 4646 positive cases with 124 active, 4440 recovered, 82 deaths; Budgam has 7219 positive cases with 291 active and 6823 recovered, 105 deaths; Kupwara has 5322 positive cases with 189 active, 5046 recovered, 87 deaths; Bandipora has 4513 positive cases with 110 active, 4347 recovered, 56 deaths and Ganderbal has 4316 positive cases with 160 active cases, 4116 recoveries and 40 deaths.
Meanwhile, 526 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 195 from Kashmir division.
