8 bovines seized, smugglers escape

KATHUA, Oct 25:  The police seized a load carrier along with eight bovine animals but the two smugglers managed to escape near Chapki Morh in Kathua district today.
A police spokesman said a police naka party intercepted a 407 load carrier bearing registration number JK14A-7978  at Chapki Morh early today, driven by one Mian, son of Qasim Din of Roun Domail Udhampur. He and his associate, namely Abdul Rashid, son of Fareed Bakash, resident of  Chak Manga in Samba, managed to escape from the naka leaving behind the vehicle.
The police seized the vehicle and animals and registered a case in this connection. It was established that animals were being smuggled from Punjab to J&K.
