3 Corona patients die in Kashmir, J&K toll 62

Srinagar, June 15: Three persons including a COVID-19 positive teenager died in Kashmir today taking the death toll of such persons in Jammu and Kashmir to 63 while 81 security force personnel including 79 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were among 158 who tested positive for Coronavirus in the Valley.
An 80-year-old man from South Kashmir’s Shopian district, who was tested positive for COVID-19 a few days ago, died at CD hospital this evening. He was admitted to the hospital on June 13. He was suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension and other underlying problems.
A day after a 70-year-old man from Budgam district died at a hospital here, his sample tested positive for the COVID-19.
The patient with sepsis and bilateral pneumonia was admitted on June 14 and died on the same day. His sample tested positive for the COVID-19.
Earlier, an 18-year-old COVID-19 man from Handwara area in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district died at the hospital. He is the youngest of 62 COVID-19 persons who died in Jammu and Kashmir so far.
He was admitted to the hospital as a medico-legal case with a serious head injury and died at 3 am.
He was admitted on June 12 as a medico-legal case. His sample was taken next day. He had serious head injuries besides bilateral pneumonia. He tested positive for the COVID-19.
So far, 63 COVID-19 positive people have died in J&K including 56 from Kashmir. Srinagar district with 15 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 11, Kulgam eight, six each from Anantnag and Shopian, five from Kupwara, three in Budgam, two in Pulwama while one death has been reported from Bandipora.
And 79 CRPF personnel, an Army man and a policeman were among 158 fresh cases of Coronavirus in Kashmir today. The cases, which also include two pregnant women and equal number of shopkeepers, took the overall tally of the COVID-19 patients in the J&K to 5224.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that 1835 samples were processed at the Viral Diagnostic lab of SKIMS today and 126 tested positive for the Virus. Among them, 79 are from CRPF Battalions 90, 91, 92, 93,95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108 based in Anantnag and 79 and 132 in Srinagar. Among others 19 are from Shopian, 14 from Kupwara, six from Baramulla, three from Bandipora and one each from Ganderbal, Srinagar, Budgam, Kulgam and Kupwara.
Principal SKIMS Medical College Srinagar, Dr Reyaz Untoo told Excelsior that 602 samples were processed at the Virology Lab of the College and 18 tested positive. They include 3 from Budgam and 15 from Srinagar. Those from Srinagar are Government employees posted here and are actually from Kulgam, Shopian and Anantnag.
Sources said that 14 people tested positive at the CD hospital’s diagnostic laboratory and they included a 31-year old soldier from 42 Rashtriya Rifles of Army stationed at Tral, a 40-year-old policeman from Awantipora Police Station in Pulwama district, two pregnant women and two shopkeepers.
