JAMMU, Mar 6: A total of 7362 distribution and power transformers were burnt in Jammu area during the past three years while as only 40 transformers were augmented during the period.
This information was provided by Minister Incharge Power in reply to the question of Prof Chaman Lal Gupta in the Lower House today. During 2009-10, 2103 distribution transformers and 7 power transformers were burnt in Jammu area while as 2270 distribution and 10 power transformers suffered damages in 2010-11 and 2968 distribution and 4 power transformers burnt in 2011-12 financial year.
About the number of transformers augmented, the Minister said that 26 transformers in 2010-11 and 14 in 2011-12 were augmented.
“The key to improvement in power supply is the load management, accountability and compliance from the consumers”, the Minister said, adding “in this regard several efforts are being made”.
