KATHUA, Aug 17: A -72 year old woman committed suicide by setting her self ablaze in village Magloor in tehsil Dingh Amb of Kathua district today.
She has been identified as Vidya Devi, wife of Bichatru Ram. Police said she set herself ablaze by sprinkling the kerosene oil over her person and received over 90 percent injuries. She was shifted to Sub District Hospital, Hiranagar by her family members where doctors declared her as brought dead.
Her dead body was handed over to her family members by the police after getting autopsy conducted at SDH Hiranagar for last rites. The Hiranagar Police has registered a case under Section 174 IPC and started investigation. The cause of taking such an extreme step by her is being investigated by the police.
