NEW DELHI, Aug 7: Former Minister and Member Parliament Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz said that out of total 76 recommendations of Sacher Committee report, 72 have been accepted by the Government of India.
Prof Soz disclosed that in response to a starred question in the Rajya Sabha, the other day, the Minister of Minority Affairs Najma Heptullah had informed that out of the 76 recommendations of the Sacher Report, the Government of India had accepted 72 recommendations. She also told that these recommendations were at different stages of implementation.
The Minister also disclosed that the Government had taken 43 decisions in respect of 72 recommendations. She further clarified that the responsibility of implementation of these decisions had been given to the concerned Ministries/ Departments.
Prof Soz, however, expressed his apprehensions that while the previous Government had set up a cell within PMO to monitor the implementation of Sacher Report and implementation of 15-point programme meant for amelioration of the minorities, the present Government had reportedly, dispensed with that procedure.
