UDHAMPUR, Dec 16: Udhampur Police foiled three separate attempts of bovine smuggling and apprehended eight bovine smugglers and rescued 72 bovines, which were being smuggled to Kashmir.
Reports said that a team of Police Station Udhampur, intercepted four trucks in which 26 bovine were being smuggled. Police rescued the bovines and arrested five smugglers, including drivers of these trucks bearing registration number JK14E-8543, JK14C-8377, PB 10HJ-1483 and JK14B-1095.
These trucks were intercepted at Jakhani naka point and arrested drivers were identified as Barkat Ali, son of Noor Hussain of Majalta, Shahid Ali son of Ab Gani of Anantnag, Mohd Imran of Anantnag, Mohd Aslam son of Mohd Majid of Majalta and Rifaq Ahmed son of Nazir of Anantnag.
Meanwhile, team of Police Station Rehambal, apprehended one bovine smuggler namely Abdul Rashid, son of Abdul Gani of Maitra and rescued 14 bovines from his possession.
Besides, the police team of Police Station Majalta, apprehended two bovine smugglers and rescued 32 bovines from two vehicle bearing registration number JK02BR-2304 and JK12C 5211.
