719 cases sanctioned under Laadli Beti Scheme

KATHUA: The District Committee for implementation of Laadli Beti Scheme, which met here today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, accorded sanction to 719 cases found eligible under the  Laadli Beti scheme.

PO ICDS Rajinder Singh, CMO, DTO and other senior officers were present in the meeting.

With the sanction of these 719 cases, the figure of Laadli Beti Scheme beneficiaries goes to 2609 since its implementation from April 2015 in the district. These beneficiaries were selected  through nine block bodies of ICDS across the district.

Worthwhile to mention here that Laadli Beti Scheme is an initiative of the state government  to provide Rs. 1000  per month aid on the name/account of girl child upto the age of 14 years which has Rs 6.5 lakh maturity value on attainment of age of 21 years.

The DC laid emphasis on covering every eligible girl child in the district and called for sensitizing women folks through ASHA and Anganwadi workers on this account.
