Srinagar, Dec 1: A free mega medical camp was today inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, at a remote village of Warikha in Boniyar area of Baramulla district.
The camp was organised by the Chief Medical Office Baramulla with the support of BMO Boniyar. National Mobile Medical Unit, a medical wing of the health department also participated in the camp.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr Nasir Naqash said that such camps shall also be organised at other various villages so that the medical facilities are being made available at doorstep. He also highlighted the importance of conducting medical camps and said that such events benefit the poor sections of the society who are not able to tolerate the burden of medical expenses.
The CMO on the event briefed the Deputy Commissioner that various medical sections including ENT, Orthopeadics, Peadritics, Gynea and dermatology were made available in this mega camp. “On the event, about 700 patients from far flung areas visited the camp and availed the medical benefits being available there. It was said that about 200 medical tests of different natures were also conducted. Free medicines were also distributed among the patients,” an official spokesman said here.
