JAMMU, Apr 25: State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) today seized 700 kilograms banned polythene carry bags from Ware House area, here.
According to official spokesman, a team of State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) under the direct supervision of Member Secretary and Regional Director Jammu conducted surprise raids in Ware House area and seized 700 kilograms of banned polythene carry bags below 50 microns.
The raids were conducted on the directions of Forest Minister to control use of banned polythene carry bags, he added.
The spokesman stated that as per the recently notified Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016, the sale and manufacturing of polythene below 50 microns thickness is not allowed in the State of J&K and the people besides the manufacturers and traders are being directed not to manufacture and sale the banned item.
Furthermore, the SPCB will carry on the raids in future also to eradicate the polythene carry bags of less than 50 microns from the State, he added.
The team comprised of Bader Hussain, Deepak Abrol, Surinder Tripathi, Chander Singh Kotwal, Anupam Koul, Arshad Malik, Sampat Singh, Naved Chowdhary, Dimple Sharma, Subash Chander, Devinder Singh besides the Forest Protection Force Guards and the police party from Police Post Ware House.
