UDHAMPUR, June 11: In a shocking incident, a seven-year old girl was allegedly raped by a close relative in the family at Tikri, here last evening.
Acting swiftly on the complaint of parents of the victim, Police arrested the accused within hours after the crime and registered a case FIR number 173/2023, under section 376/IPC, 04 POCSO Act at Police Station Rehambal.
The arrested accused has been identified as 20-year old Pankaj Kumar alias Panku, son of Hans Raj, resident of Tikri. He allegedly took the minor girl to a nearby forest area and raped her when parents of the victim had gone somewhere for mourning.
On returning home, the parents came to know about the shocking incident and brought the matter into the notice of Police following which SHO Rehambal Inspector Rajesh Sharma along with Incharge Police Post Tikri Abdul Satar arrested the accused.
