7 vehicles seized in South Zone for illegal mining

JAMMU, May 18: As part of intensified enforcement under Operation Ploughing, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Jammu South Zone, have seized seven vehicles involved in illegal mining activities across the region.
A statement said the operation was launched under the leadership of SP South Ajay Sharma and was executed by SHOs and Incharge Police Posts (PPs) of South Zone.
It said the entire exercise was supervised by SDPO East Sheezan Bhat (JKPS), SDPO South Sunil Jasrotia, and conducted under the overall guidance of SSP Jammu Joginder Singh (JKPS).
In the Belicharana area, the statement said, police teams acting on specific inputs seized five dumpers found transporting mining material without valid documents.
The vehicles were carrying sand, bajri, and stone, and were intercepted during routine checks, it said.
The District Mineral Officer, Jammu, was promptly informed for necessary legal action against the violators, the statement further said.
Similarly, police at Phallian Mandal seized two more dumpers for violating Form-A regulations and transporting bajri without authorization, it said.
In a parallel effort to improve community relations and strengthen security measures, SHOs and Incharge Police Posts of South Zone visited several places of public gathering, including temples, gurdwaras, satsang ghars, and other religious sites.
During these visits, police officers reviewed security arrangements, interacted with religious heads and locals, and encouraged residents to remain vigilant.
