Kishtwar hosts 52nd State-level Science Exhibition, National Science Seminar

KISHTWAR, May 18: District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Kishtwar successfully hosted the 52nd Rajya Stariya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani and Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani today alongside a one-day seminar on “Millets for Health and Sustainable Planet.”
The event witnessed vibrant participation from over 50 schools of the district, showcasing the theme “Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future” through seven innovative sub-themes.
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan, who extended his best wishes to the young participants. A cultural welcome by students and faculty members marked the opening, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day-long activities.
The exhibition featured student-led scientific exhibits under sub-themes including Food, Health and Hygiene, Transport and Communication, Natural Farming, Disaster Management, Mathematical Modelling and Computational Thinking, Waste Management and Resource Management.
A panel of judges-Senior Lecturers Ramesh Kumar, Apram Sharma, Rashid Hamid Kamal, Ali Imran and Baber Amin-evaluated the displays based on creativity, scientific approach and practical relevance.
In the seminar on “Millets for Health and Sustainable Planet” six students from different schools presented well-researched papers, with a Class 12 student from GHSS Girls Kishtwar winning first position, advancing to the divisional level competition at SCERT Jammu.
The seminar was effectively conducted by Lecturer Shameema Banoo and her team, with full coordination by Monika Gupta, Teacher DIET Kishtwar.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal graced the concluding session and presented awards to all the winners. While speaking, he emphasized the critical role of science in shaping a sustainable future.
Seven top-performing students from across secondary and senior secondary schools-including remote subdivisions like Paddar-secured first positions and were awarded trophies and certificates. They will now represent District Kishtwar at the divisional level.
District Nodal Officer RSBVP 2025, Riaz Ahmed Giri, along with Zonal Nodal Officers and the DIET Kishtwar team were present on the occasion.
The events were conducted under the overall supervision of In-Charge Principal, DIET Riaz Ahmed Butt. Irfan Ahmed, Lecturer, delivered the vote of thanks.
