SRINAGAR, Mar 29: In the wake of ban on mining across J&K, the police today tightened the noose on the violators in Handwara and Budgam by arresting 7 persons involved in the illegal mining process while also seizing 8 vehicles.
Police in Budgam arrested five persons involved in illegal excavation and transportation of sand, clay and also seized 5 vehicles.
A police party from Police Station Budgam intercepted five tippers loaded with illegally extracted.
“The drivers have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar resident of Bonihma, Sahil Ahmed Sofi resident of Hajibagh, Syed Mudasir resident of Wagipora, Tanver Ahmed Rather resident of Waterwani and Bashir Ahmed Rather resident of Kursoo Padsahibagh Srinagar,” police said.
Police said that they have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Budgam where they remain in custody. All vehicles used in the commission of the crime have also been seized.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 64/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and an investigation has been initiated.

Police said that a police party from Police Post Langate raided different locations of Nalla Mawar and intercepted three tippers loaded with illegally extracted clay.
“The drivers have been identified as Naseer Ahmad Mir resident of Drangbal Baramulla and Amir Ahmad Bhat resident of Aadipora Sopore. Among the accused persons, one driver managed to escape from the spot and efforts are on to effect his arrest,” police said.
Both the persons have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody. All vehicles used in the commission of the crime have also been seized.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 59/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and an investigation has been initiated.
Police said that persons found indulging in illegal activities shall be dealt with as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
