7 drug peddlers nabbed with contraband substance

Srinagar, Sept 18: Police today said to have arrested 7 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Nanak Bhawan Baramulla intercepted 04 persons identified as Mohd Safeer Jagwal resident of Bandi Sarai Uri, Ab Rashid Bhat resident of Saripora Rafiabad, Mohd Yousuf Gojri resident of Mohalla Syed Karim Baramulla and Aijaz Ahmad Rather resident of Magraypora Wussan Pattan.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 970 grams of Heroin from their possession,” police said.
Similarly in another action, police said, officers from PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Dewanbagh Baramulla intercepted 03 persons identified as Mohd Ashraf Wani resident of Drangbal Baramulla A/P Poshbagh Fatehpora, Ab Lateef Shah resident of Garkote Uri and Shahid Majeed Bhat resident of Mohalla Mir Sahib Baramulla.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 300 grams of Heroin from their possession.”
They have been arrested and shifted to the Police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, Police have registered cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Baramulla and further investigations have been initiated.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused persons are involved in selling drugs to youth of Baramulla Town and its surrounding areas,” police said.
