RAJOURI, May 15: Acting on the complaints from the public and despite earlier warnings issued by the Health Department, the office of the Chief Medical Officer Rajouri launched a major crackdown against private clinical establishments/Labs operating in violation of prescribed norms and regulations.
A surprise inspection drive was conducted on Friday by CMO Rajouri, Dr ML Rana along with Naib Tehsildar, Sham Lal and Drugs Inspector Shakoor Ahmad in different areas of Rajouri town. During the drive, around 11 private clinical establishments were inspected and strict action was taken after several serious irregularities were detected.
A total of 7 clinical establishments/ Clinics were sealed for operating without proper registration under the Clinical Establishments Act. These included Dr Lal Lab Collection Centre Kheora, Global Dental Clinic, Dr Shahid Anjum Clinic, Joint and Spine Clinic, Satellite Clinic and Medicare Clinic, among others.
Besides this, the license of one diagnostic centre was suspended for 48 hours due to violations found during inspection, while three other establishments were fined for non-compliance with Health Department guidelines.
The inspection team found that several institutions were operating without mandatory documents, had licensing deficiencies and were violating prescribed healthcare norms, posing a serious concern for public health and patient safety.
He further said that such inspection drives will continue in the future and strict action will be taken against violators to ensure quality healthcare services and safeguard public interest.
