REASI, May 28: Police today filed chargesheet against seven persons, who were allegedly involved in selling of fake helicopter tickets to Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims.
Chargesheet in two cases FIR number 5/22, under section 419, 420 IPC, 66 IT Act and FIR number 63/2022, under section 419/420/120-B IPC & 66D-IT Act, was produced against the accused persons, namely Ashok Kumar Sharma alias Ashok Mistri, son of Chander Dev Mistri, resident of Ward number 13 , Shumba , District Khagraria , Bihar; Lakhpati Paswan, son of Satya Narayan of Shumba Gaji Ghat District Khagaria , Bihar; Santosh Kumar, son of Shatrudhan Choudhary of Gaji Ghat, District Khagaria Bihar ; Sunil Chawla son of Gopi Chand Chawla , resident of 82 Shakti Nagar Kota City Rajasthan; Monu Pankaj, resident of Hari Om Nagar Rangbari Road Kota; Deepak Kumar, son of Parmanand of Ladupura Kota Rajasthan and Gajanand Meghwal son of Duali Chand of village Chhpabrod Baran Rajasthan.
The case FIRs were registered at Police Station Katra on the basis of complaints regarding fake online helicopter ticket booking fraud for Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. After registration of the instant cases, special teams of Reasi Police were framed under the supervision of SP Katra, Amit Bhasin and dispatched to various parts of the country for arrest of the accused persons involved in the commission of crime. After sustained and hectic efforts, a team headed by Kuljeet Singh, SDPO Katra, succeeded in nabbing three fraudsters from different area of Bihar. Police also seized incriminating material from their possession. All the accused persons were brought to Katra after obtaining transit remand from competent court.
Moreover, during the investigation of instant cases, 40 fake websites were identified and got blocked, which were involved in selling of fake Helicopter tickets to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims. Later on, four more accused were identified and arrested in the instant cases.
After completion of the investigation of the cases and collecting all the evidences, Chargesheet was produced today against the seven accused in the court of law in Reasi.
SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta has advised all the pilgrims to use only the official website of the SMVD Shrine Board for booking services such as helicopter tickets and not to fall prey to the fraudulent advertisements issued by unauthorized websites offering confirmed Helicopter tickets or sale of Prasad etc.
