JAMMU, Jan 25: 6th National Voters Day was celebrated across the State with enthusiasm.
RAMBAN: A rally was flagged off by District Development Commissioner (DEO), Bashir Ahmed Dar from the Government Higher Secondary School which concluded at the JKTDC Tourist Bungalow after passing through the Ramban market. Eight Booth Level Officers were given the certificates of appreciation for achieving 100 per cent Photo Electoral Registration in their respective areas. Besides, some Photo EPICs were also distributed among the new electors.
KATHUA: 6th National Voters Day celebrations started with flagging off a massive students rally from the premises of Government Girls Higher Secondary School by ADDC Dr Manmohan Singh. Deputy Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar distributed EPICs among the newly enrolled voters. In Basohli, the main function was held at Ramlila Ground during which SDM Basohli Gurmukh Singh was the chief guest. In Bani, the main function was held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bani, SDM Bani Rajesh Basotra presided over the function. Similar function was also held at GDC Hiranagar where SDM Sohan Lal administered pledge to the students. In Billawar SDM Billawar RS Charak flagged off a student’s rally from Government Higher Secondary School Billawar.
KISHTWAR: To mark the National Voters Day various programmes including a cultural programme, pledge to the participants, distribution of Epic cards and felicitation of Best performing BLOs was held in a function held at Government Higher Secondary School Kishtwar. District Election Officer Kishtwar, GN Balwan was the chief guest on the occasion. Best performing Booth Level Officers were also felicitated.
DODA: District Election Officer Doda, Bhupinder Kumar flagged off a rally of about 300 students from the Government Boys Higher Secondary School Doda which after passing through the town culminated at GHSS Boys Doda. EPICs were also distributed by DEO among the newly registered voters. Six best performing BLOs were also felicitated on the occasion. In Bhaderwah, an awareness rally was flagged off by Sub Divisional Magistrate Bhaderwah Mohammad Anwar Banday from SDM Office Bhaderwah which after passing through Bhaderwah town culminated at Dak Banglow Bhaderwah where various speakers including the SDM Bhaderwah highlighted the importance of the Day.
REASI: 6th National Voter’s Day was celebrated at District Headquarters where the District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Reasi Sushma Chauhan was the chief guest. An awareness rally of students drawn from various colleges and schools was also flagged off by the DEO. Similarly, NVD was also celebrated at subdivision, tehsil and booth levels of the district.
RAJOURI: 6th National Voters Day was celebrated with the theme “Inclusive and Qualitative Participation” in a function organised at Dak Bungalow, Rajouri. Vice Chairman, Pahari Advisory Board, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, MLA Qamar Hussain, MLC Vibodh Gupta, DDC Shabir Ahmed Bhat besides many others were also present on the occasion. Rallies of students were organized.
SAMBA: A rally was flagged off by DDC, Samba, Sheetal Nanda in which District Level Officers, general public and students carrying placards with slogans participated. Sheetal Nanda administered National Voters Day pledge to the participants and distributed EPICs among freshly enrolled voters. Similarly, National Voters Day was celebrated at Ghagwal also.
RS PURA: A programme was organized on the occasion of 6th National Voters Day at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in which MLA RS Pura and Political Advisor to State BJP President Dr Gagan Bhagat was the chief guest, while SDM RS Pura, Tehsildaar RS Pura were the guest of honor. On the occasion EPIC were distributed among the new voters and a symposium was also organized on the occasion of National Voters Day at the GBHSS RS Pura.
POONCH: The main function was held in the premises of Government Degree College Poonch which was attended among others by the District Election Officer, Mohammad Harun Malik, Principal GDC, Tajinder Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Amit Gupta, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt besides district officers, professors, prominent citizens and students. Similarly National Voters’ Day was celebrated at Tehsil, Niabat and Polling Booth level under the supervision of concerned Electoral Registration Officers.
UDHAMPUR: National Voters Day was celebrated at Polling Stations, Tehsil and Sub-Divisional headquarters in district Udhampur. The main event was organised at district headquarters where a cultural programme, photo exhibition, awareness event and a number of competitions were organised. District Election Officer, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary inaugurated the electoral photo exhibition and display centre. Out of more than 6000 voters added in the electoral rolls, 50 were presented the EPICs in district function and rest at tehsil and booth level offices. Cultural items, debate competition, painting and slogan writing competitions were also organized.
SRINAGAR: A function was held at Government College of Education Srinagar where Deputy Commissioner, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone addressed the participants.
BUDGAM: The main function was chaired by District Development Commissioner, Mir Altaf Ahmad at Shiekh-ul-Alam Hall, Budgam. During the function, it was informed that 3568 new eligible voter have been registered in five constituencies of Chadoora, Budgam, Beerwah, Khan Sahib and Charar-i-Sharief of the district increasing the total number of electorate from 446551 to 450129 as per final roll on January 1, 2016.
PULWAMA: A function was held at town hall in which District Development Commissioner Niraj Kumar was the chief guest.
SHOPIAN: A function was held with the theme of inclusive and qualitative electoral participation. District Development Commissioner Shopian, G M Dar distributed Election Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) among the young electorates who have attained 18 years of age.
BANDIPORA: A function was held with DDC Sajad Hussain Ganai highlighting the importance of celebrating the voter’s day.
KUPWARA: The function was held at Town Hall wherein Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan was the chief guest. On the occasion EPICs were distributed among the newly registered voters.
BARAMULLA: A function in connection with the National Voters day was held at Dak Bungalow, where District Development Commissioner Yasha Mudgal was the chief guest. During the function, voter identity cards were distributed among the newly registered voters.
ANANTNAG: The 6th National Voters Day was celebrated with enthusiasm. The main function, organised by District Election Office was held at Auditorium Hall Government Degree College Boys. District Election Officer, Anantnag (Deputy Commissioner) Muneer ul Islam was the chief guest on the occasion.
GANDERBAL: National Voters Day was celebrated at Mini Secretaries Ganderbal. Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Showkat Aijaz Bhat, distributed new Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) among the new voters.
KULGAM: 6th National Voters Day function was held here. The main function, organised by District Election Office was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah. At the function about 4350 new EPICs were distributed among newly registered voters.
KARGIL: A function was held at Indoor stadium in which Additional Deputy Commissioner was the chief guest.
LEH: The main function was presided over by CEC, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh. He also highlighted various aspects of National Voter Day in democracy.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) organized a function on the National Voters Day at SGC, Katra in which large number of staff members representing all the wings of field, track leading to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and Central Office participated. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer was the chief guest. Dr MK Kumar, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Pankaj Gupta and Dr Arvind Karwani, Deputy Chief Executive Officers, Rajinder Singh, Officer on Special Duty and Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB also participated in the interaction session. On the occasion, CEO appealed all the employees to ensure their enrolment in the voter list through various means being prescribed by the Election Commission of India/ Chief Electoral Officer, J&K. Sohit Kohli, System Manager was appointed as Nodal Officer to provide guidance and support for the enrolment of any employee of the Board who will liaise with District Election Officer and ERO for enrolment of unregistered but eligible employees in the respective voters list.
6th National Voters Day was celebrated in the premises of Government GLDM Degree College Hiranagar. Dr Naresh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College presented the welcome address. A symposium on ‘Democracy and electoral participation’ was organized in which six students presented their views. Sohan Lal Sharma SDM Hiranagar was the chief guest, whileas Jatinder Mishra Tehsildar and Mohammad Sayeed BDO Hiranagar were guests of honour.
On the occasion of Voter’s Day, a voter’s pledge was held in the premises of GDC Paloura, where in the students took pledge that they will cast their vote fearlessly for the betterment of the country without considering religion, caste, creed, language or any inducement. Principal of the college Prof Rita Bhagat highlighted the importance of the vote in the Democratic country.
The SVEEP Cell of Government College for Women Udhampur celebrated the 6th National Voters Day by taking a pledge. Principal of the college Prof KS Koushal, SVEEP Nodal Principal Udhampur, Prof Swarna Bhougal, Dr Shalini Sharma and Prof Sumita Rao were present on the occasion.
Government Degree College (GDC), Akhnoor celebrated National Voters Day by organizing poster making competition on the theme “Democracy and Electoral Participation”. Principal Dr SP Sharma threw light on the importance of vote and participation of youth in voting.
Government Degree College Thannamandi celebrated National Voters Day by organizing an Electoral Awareness Programme. Block Level Officer Rezwan Ahmed Malik delivered technical lectures and provided awareness to the students regarding their entry in electoral roll and preparation of election cards. Prof Junaid Jazib, Lecturer Ashfaq Ahmed, Dr Mohammad Abbas Wani and Lecturer Sajid Ahmed also spoke at the occasion. Principal of the college Dr Shakeel Ahmed Raina presided over the function.
Government Degree College Udhampur celebrated National Voters Day. On the occasion, Principal Prof SS Bhalwal addressed the staff and students of the institution.
In connection with National Voters Day, The SVEEP Cell of Government Degree College Ramnagar organized a number of events including interactive lecture by Nodal Officer SVEEP and other experts on the topic Youth for Voters’ Awareness, human chain formation and a rally. In the programme, Principal Prof Taranath was the chief guest and Prof Brinder Singh Chib was the guest of honour. Prof Kewal acted as chief observer of the event.
The students and staff members of Government Higher Secondary School Utterbehani, Samba celebrated the Voter’s Day. A cultural programme was organized in which the students presented speeches/debate to highlight the importance of the day. Later, a rally was also organized by the staff members and students of the institution. Principal Razor Singh Sambyal highlighted the importance of Day.
Salal Power Station celebrated National Voters Day. On the occasion, AG Ansari administered the pledge to a large number of employees of Salal Power Station in the Admn Block premises of the Power Station.
6th National Voters Day was celebrated in the ICDS Projects Udhampur, Ghordi, Pancheri, Dudu Basantgarh. Keeping with the objective of National Voter Day, a special campaigning by the Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers were taken to reach the newly eligible electoral and to register them in electoral rolls. Child Development Project Officer Udhampur Amit Singh Manhas threw light on the importance of the day. The campaign was conducted under the supervision of Sanjay Gupta, District Programme Officer ICDS Udhampur.
Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kathua organized a rural workshop on National Voters Awareness Day at village Debu-Chack in Border Area, Block Marheen. In this workshop over 100 members of Youth Action Group, village community, Panchayat Representatives participated and shared views on the rights and duties of voters and Power of Vote. Som Datt Zard, District Youth Coordinator, NYK Kathua educated and awared the public about the value of vote.
To commemorate National Voters Day, Government Higher Secondary School, Durang organized a rally. Principal Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, NCC Officer Mulkh Raj Sharma and senior lecturer Ghan Shyam threw light on the importance of the day.
National Voters Day was celebrated at Government Higher Secondary School, Surinsar, Zone Gandhi Nagar. Principal of the institution and Sarpanch Subash Singh Jamwal threw light on the importance of the day. A rally was organized, followed by EPICs distribution. A legal camp on domestic violence Act and Consumer Forum Act was also organized under the chairmanship of Adnan Sayeed, Secretary, DLSA Jammu.
National Voters Day was celebrated in Marmat, wherein the people drawn from different areas participated in a function. A rally was organised by the local administration. Executive Magistrate Ist Class and Tehsildar Marmat Anil Charak was the chief guest whereas Principal GHSS Goha was guest of honour. On the occasion, an awareness camp was also organized in GHSS Goha, which was attended by Booth Level Officers, Sarpanches, Panchs of various Panchayats, political leaders and general public. EPICs were distributed among newly enrolled voters. Others present on the occasion were Incharge Goha police post Sub Inspector Firdous, ZS Rathore, Irshad Hussain, Sudesh Kumar, etc.
