KATHUA, Nov 23: District Administration organised Gram Sabhas and Enrollment Camps at 245 Panchayat Headquarters where electorate from 532 Villages and 625 Polling Booths participated to check their names in voter lists, verify the voter lists and for enrollment of left out voters.
More than 4000 left out voters filled up Form-6 for enrollment. Cumulatively 68,789 people participated in all the Gram Sabhas today which were conducted by 625 polling booth area teams.
This was third in the series of special voter enrolment camps organised under SVEEP campaign Matdaan Mahotsav in the district. The Gram Sabhas started at 11am with the display of voter lists by BLOs. Voter lists were read out among the participants to seek objections and verify the names of participants in the village. Sufficient number of Form-6 were made available at all Panchayat Ghars for enrolment of new voters under continuous updation.
Electoral literacy material on ethical and informed voting was also distributed among the participants, pledge of participation administrated and series of cultural programme also presented. Electronic Voting Machine familiarisation camps were held by mobile teams of Master Trainers deputed by Election Cell. As many as 42,000 pledge letters were signed in 4 blocks of Basohli, Mahanpur, Lohai and Bani.
District Election Officer Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Addl DC Prasanna Ramaswamy, Retunring Officer Suraj Parkash Rukwal, Gurmukh Singh, Anwar Banday, Rajiv Charak and Anhsul Garg supervised the Gram Sabhas which were coordinated by Block Development Officer and Tehsildars.
Matdaan Matsav campaign launched under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Particpation (SVEEP) has received massive response in the district and hundreds of events have been organised in more than 400 villages of district so far which were also reflected in the ongoing photo exhibition. More than 30 campaigns have been launched for special target groups for eliciting greater participation in forthcoming elections.
Chief Electoral Officer J&K Umang Narula in his message has complimented the district administration for this record participation and a series of innovative steps taken under State SVEEP Campaign Aitmaad and Matdaan Mahotsav for reaching out to all voters in various ways.
