670 stranded passengers airlifted

LEH, Dec 16: More than 670 passengers, who were stranded at Leh, Kargil and Srinagar , were airlifted to their respective destinations.
The Indian Ari Force on the intervention of the UT Administration Ladakh, arranged two IL- 76 aircrafts which airlifted 352 passengers from Leh to Srinagar, 265 passengers from Srinagar to Leh, 27 passengers from Kargil to Srinagar and Srinagar to Kargil through AN 32 Courier Service.
These passengers were stranded at Leh, Kargil and Srinagar for the last one week because of closure of Srinagar-Leh highway following heavy snowfall.
Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan and CEC LAHDC Leh, Gyal P Wangyal, who had taken up the matter with the Administration of UT Ladakh, have appreciated the Ministry of Defence for airlifting the stranded passengers at various locations.
