JAMMU, July 18: Akhnoor, Rajouri and Thanna Mandi police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 67 cattle and arresting five smugglers.
As per police sources, a team from Chowki Choura Police Post under the supervision of SHO Akhnoor Inspector Sanjeev Gupta and SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma during checking at Mandir Gala intercepted a truck bearing registration number UP12T-3808.
During checking, police team rescued 12 bovine animals from the truck and seized it, while the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Rajouri headed by SHO Rajouri Ajaz Haider during checking intercepted three trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AA-8157, JK13A-8651 and JK02AL-7987.
During checking of these three trucks, police team rescued 51 bovines and arrested three drivers on the spot.
However, a team of police headed by SHO Thannamandi Javed Malik intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK11B-4395.
During checking, police team rescued 4 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Mohammad Shabir, son of Mohammad Yaqoob, a resident of Palma Rajouri and Abdul Ghani, son of Mohammad Bashir, a resident of Plangarh Thannamandi, District Rajouri.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Akhnoor, Rajouri and Thannamandi Police Stations and investigation started.
