JAMMU, Apr 28: As per the expansion programme of SSB, 66th Battalion SSB Bantalab has been raised as a reserved battalion under the command of Sham Kapoor, Commandant.
On the occasion, a cultural event was organized by the officers and Jawans of the Battalion at Transit Camp of SSB at Channi Himmat.
The event was inaugurated by Commandant Sham Kapoor, who also delivered a motivation lecture to the Jawans of 66th Battalion SSB.
SSB is responsible for guarding the Indo-Nepal and Bhutan borders. Five units of SSB are already deployed in J&K to look after the law and order situations, VIP escorts and CI-Ops related duties in Jammu and Kashmir.
The newly raised battalion will provide the administrative and logistic support to the other units and will also be used as reserve in case of emergencies and natural calamities.
