65 vehicles seized for violating traffic norms

SRINAGAR, Feb 14: The Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Rayaz Ahmad today seized 65 vehicles that were violating traffic rules in the district.
The ADC was accompanied by a team of officers including ARTO Jamsheed Chowdhary, SHO Ayaz Geelani, Tehsildar and officers of Municipal Committee Baramulla.
The objective of the inspection was removal of encroachments from the roads of the district and ensure smooth plying of traffic on the roads and to check the growing number of road accidents.
As many as 65 vehicles, both heavy and light vehicles were seized for violating the traffic rules on spot. Moreover, many shopkeepers and vendors were fined for occupying footpaths and roads for displaying their merchandize. They were directed to remove all encroachments immediately from roads, link roads and footpaths.
During the drive, a number of drivers were fined for using mobile phones while driving or pursuing wrong driving. To identify the places for parking slots for vehicles the team visited many places in the district.
On the occasion, the ADC said that the District Administration has prioritized traffic regulation.  He said that for this purpose a team has already been constituted in the district.
