62 families of Badhaal sent back home by Admn

Fresh ration kits provided to each family

RAJOURI, Feb 13: District Administration Rajouri, today sent 330 members of 62 families of Badhaal village in Koteranka Sub Division, to their respective homes after a stay of 22 days in the quarantine centers at district headquarters.

An official spokesman said that these members include, 152 males and 178 females including children. The team of officials led by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, facilitated their safe return to the village in special vehicles. They had been lodged in the temporary isolation centres created at Boys Higher Secondary School Rajouri and the Nursing College, Rajouri.
These people had been shifted to quarantine centers at Rajouri after the death of 17 people at Badhaal village due to some `mysterious disease’. The district administration was providing them food and water under the supervision of special teams of officials constituted under the directions of the DC, Rajouri.
Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri appreciated the coordinated efforts of all departments in ensuring the well-being of the affected families and expressed gratitude for their patience and cooperation during the period.
To ensure a smooth transition, officials created awareness about necessary precautions post-departure. Additionally, ration available at their houses will be sealed and shifted to a secure location under ADC Kotranka’s supervision, while ration kits have been provided for immediate use. Routine ration distribution will continue in their respective villages, the spokesman said.
As a welfare measure, Labour Cards were handed over to eligible beneficiaries, and 10 cases under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) were registered and will be processed on priority.
For health and safety, the Food Safety and Drug Inspector was directed to maintain records of collected samples, while the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will deploy a dedicated health team at Badhaal for regular medical check-ups. The Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department is stationed at Badhaal to ensure the smooth return of livestock.
Infrastructure and essential services were also prioritized. The PHE Department will continue tanker services, clean storage tanks, and operationalize the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Scheme within a week. The Power Development Department (PDD) will ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply.
” In order to maintain security, ADC Kotranka and SP Kotranka will monitor vehicle movement in Badhaal, while the District Information Officer (DIO) will preserve CCTV footage of food preparation and distribution at the lodgement centres,” he added.
During their stay, teachers and Anganwadi workers provided education to children, while doctors ensured healthcare services. The returning families expressed gratitude to DC Rajouri and the District Administration for their support, also acknowledging the efforts of Animal and Sheep Husbandry staff in caring for their livestock.
