Postive global cues lift zinc futures by 0.68 pc

NEW DELHI, May 9: Zinc prices advanced 0.68 per cent to Rs 208.20 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions, taking positive cues from overseas markets amid uptick in spot demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May month rose by Rs 1.40, or 0.68 per cent to Rs 208.20 per kg in business turnover of 1171 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in June contract ticked higher by Rs 1.35, or 0.65 per cent to Rs 208.55 per kg in 21 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by traders in line with a firm trend overseas amid pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market drove zinc prices higher in futures trade.
Globally, zinc for delivery in three months climbed 1 per cent to USD 3,089.50 a tonne at the London Metal Exchange. (PTI)
