JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Nov 20: Fifty four new guests from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived Poonch while seven in Uri town in the weekly cross LoC bus services between Poonch -Rawalkaote (PoK) and Srinagar-Uri- Muzaffrabad (PoK) today.
Official sources told the Excelsior that via Chakkan-da- Bagh cross LoC point, 14 PoK returnees have also gone back to their homes after staying with their relatives on this side of the LoC today. But today again, not even a single Indian resident went to PoK via Poonch during third consecutive time after resumption of bus service recently. Out of the all 66 passengers, who exchanged sides at Chakkan-da- Bagh, all were from Pak occupied Kashmir.
Executive Officer Poonch Municipality, Irshad Sofi from Indian side and Nahim Akhtar, SDM (Hazira) from Pak side facilitated the passengers at the cross LoC point.
A total seven Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) in the weekly Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar-Uri and Muzaffarabad.
Seventeen returnees also crossed sides at the Kaman Post in Uri sector today. Sources said seven residents of PoK arrived at Kaman Post after crossing Aman Setu, on- foot to meet their relatives, separated in 1947 due to partition.
Meanwhile, six Kashmiris, including a woman and two children, who had gone to PoK in previous buses, also returned after completing their stay on that side.
The number of guests coming here from PoK has gone down during winter months. As many as 11 PoK residents, including three women, who had arrived in previous buses to meet their relatives, returned to their homes after completing their stay here, the sources added.
