JAMMU, Aug 12: A 60-year-old man committed suicide today by consuming some poisonous substance in Gharota area of city outskirts.
“Rattan Lal (60) son of Parsuram, resident of Ranjan allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at his residence. He was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors,” a police official said, adding the deceased was a carpenter by profession.
He said that after postmortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to the family while inquest proceeding under Section 174 CrPC was initiated in this connection at police station Gharota.
