JAMMU : Asserting that BSF is geared to counter any untoward situation on the border, Inspector General BSF, Jammu Frontier Rakesh Sharma today said 60 to 70 terrorists are getting training across the international border in training camps.
”As per our inputs, around 60 to 70 terrorists are getting training in the camps across international border along Jammu region,” Mr Sharma told reporters at the sidelines of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of BSF.
“But we are alert and vigilant and troops can foil any attempt from across the border,” he asserted.
The top BSF Officer said that though borders are calm after recent DG level BSF talks but still forces are on alert.
“We cannot take anything lightly as terrorist infrastructure is very much intact across the border,” he added and said that BSF troops are maintaining vigil.
He said that terrorist training camps are intact across the LoC and IB so infiltration bids cannot be ruled out.
On apprehensions of BAT like operations, the IG said, “we are ready to face any challenge while various measures have also been taken.”
On constructing bunkers along IB, he said, “we have submitted designs to the concerned union ministry and it is upto the Centre to take the final call as community bunkers help the border residents to protect themselves during border tensions.”
Mr Sharma however, also said that with onset of winter season, border mechanism has been put in place and adequate measures have also been taken. (UNI)
