UDHAMPUR, May 26: The police recovered nearly 60 kg of poppy straw on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Jakheni and arrested two drug peddlers today.
A police spokesman said that a police party during routine checking at Jakheni Naka intercepted a truck, bearing registration No. PB 05Q-7191 for physical check.
During checking, 60 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle by cops on duty. The accused driver namely- Yoga Singh, son of Mohinder Singh, resident of Subhash Colony, Amritsar alongwith Lucky Singh, son of Avtar Singh of Meota Road, Amritsar were arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 211/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station, Udhampur. Further investigation was in progress.
