JAMMU, Jan 28: Gharota Police seized 60 wooden logs, being carried in a vehicle illegally.
As per police sources, while patrolling in Baran area, a team from Police Station Gharota led by SHO Inspector Mahesh Sharma intercepted a Mahindra Bolero load carrier bearing registration number JK20-5242 driven by Askar Ali, son of Yousaf Ali of Baran Tehsil Bhalwal District Jammu.
During checking, police team seized 60 khair wooden logs as driver of the vehicle failed to produce any relevant documents from authorized Forest Officer for transporting the Khair wood.
The said driver as such committed the offence under Section 41/42 Indian Forest Act.
The seized wooden logs and vehicle were accordingly detained at Police Station Gharota and DFO Jammu (Authorized Officer) was informed for further necessary action under law.
Police has issued warning that anyone involved in forest smuggling shall be dealt sternly and strict action under law will be taken.
