JAMMU, Feb 8: Bagh-e-Bahu and Nagrota police today foiled major bovine smuggling bids in their respective areas by arresting 3 smugglers and rescuing 60 bovine animals.
“In its continued efforts of curbing bovine smuggling, Bagh-e-Bahu police today laid a naka at NHW Ragoora and intercepted a truck trailer bearing registration number HR55K-7439. On checking, around 25 animals were found loaded in the vehicle which were being transported to a transit camp established at Bandi by the smugglers for further transportation to Kashmir. All the bovines were rescued by the police team,” police sources said.
While driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot, his accomplice namely Abdul Hamid son of Noor Din, resident of Qazigund was arrested. On disclosure of the arrested person, Bagh-e-Bahu raided a shed (being used as a transit camp for bovines) in Bandi area and rescued 15 bovines which were kept there for further transportation to Kashmir.
The arrest and recovery was made by a police team headed by SHO, police station Bagh-e-Bahu, Inspector Sunil Sharma. A case under relevant sections of law was registered in this connection at police station Bagh-e-Bahu and further investigation started.
Meanwhile, Nagrota Police laid a special naka near Ban Toll Plaza and succeeded in rescuing 20 bovine animals which were being transported illegally to Kashmir in two separate vehicles. The drivers of both the vehicles were arrested. They were identified as Abdul Hamid son of Bashir Ahmad of Gujjar Colony, Bathindi (Jammu) and Mohd Nadeem son of Tehseen, resident of Gangeh Saranpur (UP).
In this connection, two separate cases FIR numbers 48/2020, 54/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in police station Nagrota. The police party was headed by SHO police station Nagrota, Inspector Mohd Shoket under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota, Mohan Lal Sharma.
