6 injured as ambulance plunges into gorge

JAMMU, Sept 5: Six persons including three women received injuries, when the ambulance they were traveling in, plunged into gorge near Chowki Choura areas, falling under the Akhnoor Police Station.
The ill-fated ambulance carrying patient was on its way to Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital from Sub-district Hospital (SDH) Nowshera, when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve and the vehicle plunged into gorge near Chowki Choura, causing injuries to six persons including three women.
On getting information, police team from Chowki Choura Police Post led by Inspector Joginder Singh and locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
All the injured were rushed to SMGS and GMC Hospitals, where their condition was stated to be out of danger, when last reports came in.
The injured have been identified as Varsha Devi (patient), her husband Jai Pal, Sham Lal, Basanti Devi, Satya Devi and Ajeet Singh (driver of the ambulance).
A case under relevant Sections has been registered in this regard at Akhnoor Police Station and investigation started.
