6 feared dead as tipper plunges into Chenab

KISHWTAR, June 19: Six persons were feared dead when the tipper they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into river Chenab last evening near Slipor Morh in Block Padder.
As per official spokesman, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajinder Singh Tara along with Former Minister Sunil Sharma visited the Slipor Morh accident spot in Block Paddar and took stock of rescue operations of missing persons in the accident.
The accident came into the light when the tipper with 5 labourers and 1 driver namely Sandeep Kumar (driver), son of Prem singh of Kadhail, Rajesh Kumar, son of Krishan Nand of Kadhail, Ravinder Kumar, son of Tota Ram of Jar, Rakesh Kumar, son of Vaid Vyas of Kadhail, Jabar Singh, son of Jagdish Raj of Jar and Manjeet Kumar, son of Doulat Ram of Sazar on board it skidded off the road yesterday when it was bound for the Kinthro nallah for stone lifting, the spokesman informed.
After receiving the report about the accident, the local Administration, police and army conducted a search operation along the road side and found the parapets and bushes damaged near Slipor Morh, the spokesman added.
The conjuncture is being made that the persons along with the tipper might have rolled down the risky road and plunged into the river Chenab before submerging into it.
The whole of the rescue operation is being keenly monitored by MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh and he has communicated to DDC Kishtwar for extending each and every possible help to families of those feared dead, the spokesman added.
However no person has been traced from the spot by the rescue teams so far, as the deep gorge and fast flow of river is hampering the rescue operations.
In order to recover the missing persons, DDC has already directed the SDM Paddar Varun Jeet Charak to conduct intensive search out operation along with NDRF team, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Former Minister Sunil Sharma spoke to Lieutenant Governor for ex-gratia to the next of the kin of the deceased and LG assured the same.
