6 drug peddlers arrested with heroin, poppy straw

JAMMU, July 22: Police arrested six drug peddlers along with heroin and poppy straw.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Narwal Police Post led by SI Vikas Jasrotia under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Deepak Pathania, SDPO East Bikram Kumar and SP South Deepak Digra laid a naka at Rajiv Nagar Chowk and intercepted a scooty bearing registration number JK02BX-2304.
During checking, police team recovered 7 grams heroin from the possession of the rider and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Raman Kumar, son of Joginder Kumar of Rajiv Nagar, District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 183/2020 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Ramban Police Station led by SHO Inspector Sunil Sharma under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Rajinder Singh, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Haseeb ur Rahman laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AH-3666.
During frisking, police team recovered 17 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and seized it, while the driver managed to escape from the spot by taking benefit of the traffic of heavy vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
A case under FIR Number 114/2020 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ramban and hunt has been launched to nab the accused.
However, a team from Bakshi Nagar Police Station led by SHO Inspector Manjeet Singh apprehended three drug peddlers along with 12 grams heroin.
The arrested persons were identified as Sunil Chander alias Lohri, son of Tunda Ram of Shopping Centre Bakshi Nagar, Shashwat Bakshi, son of Varinder Kumar Bakshi of Bakshi Nagar and Madhav Gupta, son of Sham Lal Gupta of Rehari Colony. Two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02BM-4517 and JK02AD-9645 were also seized.
Cases under FIR Numbers 105/2020 and 107/2020 under relevant sections have been registered at Bakshi Nagar Police Station and investigation started.
In another case, a team from Gharota Police Station laid a naka and intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BB-9588.
During checking, police team recovered 3 grams heroin from the possession of rider and pillion rider and arrested them.
The accused were identified as Vikram Singh, son of Hoshiar Singh of Lehal Sungal Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu and Anshul Choudhary, son of Jasbir Singh of Bhagwati Colony Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 44/2020 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Gharota Police Station and investigation initiated.
Police team led by SHO Gharota Inspector Mahesh Sharma and assisted by ASI Mohammad Shaheen made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma, SP Rural Suram Singh and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
