JAMMU, Mar 29: Nowabad, Batote, Akhnoor, Gandhi Nagar, Kanachack and Ramban Police arrested six drug peddlers along with contraband including heroin, poppy straw, cannabis, etc.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team led by SHO Nowabad Inspector Deepak Jasrotia and assisted by Incharge Police Post Talab Tillo Inspector Kali Charan under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Jammu Swati Sharma laid a naka at Rajpura Chungi and intercepted a person, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 7 grams heroin from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Vicky Kumar, son of Mithu Ram of Firozpur Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 61/2021 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Batote led by SHO Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number HP12C-9025.
During checking, police team recovered 101 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver along with his associate.
The arrested persons were identified as Gulzar Mohammad, son of Rehmat Ali of Punjab and Noor Mohammad, son of Fateh Mohammad of Himachal Pradesh.
However, a team from Police Station Akhnoor led by PSI Baljeet Singh under the supervision of SHO Akhnoor Inspector Ravi Parihar, SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma conducted raid in village Mundh and recovered 130 kilograms of poppy straw from a car bearing registration number JK02AE-5732. On seeing police cops, the driver of the car fled away from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
In another incident, a team from Police Station Gandhi Nagar led by PSI Chain Kumar Sharma under the supervision of SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Bharat Sharma, SDPO South Parshotam Mengi and SP City South Deepak intercepted a man, who was trying to hide himself from the cops.
During checking, police team recovered around 11 grams heroin from the possession of the man and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Shivam Gupta, son of Ashok Gupta, a resident of Channi Himmat, District Jammu.
In another similar incident, a team from Police Station Kanachack led by PSI Mohammad Bashir apprehended a person along with 950 grams Ganja.
The arrested person has been identified as Shivcharan, son of Sanchu Chauhan of Chhattisgarh.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SHO Kanachack Inspector Vishav partap Singh, SDPO Domana Kosheen Koul and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Ramban arrested a drug peddler along with 250 grams of cannabis.
The accused has been identified as Sajad Ahmed, son of Mushtaq Ahmed of District Ramban.
