6 bovine smugglers arrested, 34 animals rescued in Ghagwal

SAMBA, Apr 14: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers, Samba Police in successive days has foiled two major bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal, arrested six bovine smugglers, rescued 34 bovines and seized two vehicles used in the transportation of bovines.
A police party of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal headed by SHO Police Station, Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, signalled to stop a truck bearing Registration Number HR38T-4734 coming from Kathua side for checking. But the driver of the vehicle accelerated the speed and hit the vehicle with naka road barrier causing damage to it. The alert cops successfully intercepted the vehicle and during checking 15 bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
The two bovine smugglers identified as Razak Ahmed, son of Altaf Hussain of Usdara,Trigam Kishtwar and Dalwar Khan, son of Mohammed Lamber of Kottli Mein Fateh RS Pura Jammu have been arrested.
A case FIR No.44/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act, 3 PDPP Act, 50/52/54 Transport of Animals Rules has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
Likewise, a police party of Police Post Rajpura headed by Incharge PP Rajpura has successfully foiled another major bovine smuggling attempt, arrested four bovine smugglers, rescued 19 bovines and seized a vehicle bearing registration No. JK03F-5957 which was being used for transportation of bovines without any valid permission.
The four arrested bovine smugglers have been identified as Nisar Ahmed, son of Ghulam Qadir Khgan of Rakhi Bra Shangus, district Anantnag at present, Bathindi Jammu, Sahil Ahmed Choudhary, son of Mohd Ashraf Choudhary of Mazum Qazikund tehsil Dooru, district Anantnag at present Samba, Shah Amin son of Ghulam Rasool of Karloop tehsil, Marh district Jammu and Subhan Ali son of Shah Mohd of Juthana district Kathua.
