593 appear for physical test during police recruitment drive

LEH, May 25: As many as 593 candidates appeared for the physical test during J&K Police recruitment drive held at Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, here today.
Total 869 candidates including 510 females applied for 69 post sanctioned for Leh district out of which 593 candidates appeared for the physical test and out of these candidates 253 females and 7 males qualified the physical test.
The entire recruitment process was held under the surveillance of electronic camera to record the entire proceeding. The drive was supervised by Recruitment Board Chairman PHQ IG Surinder Kumar who was assisted by DIG Deepak K Slathia and number of SSPs.

Responding to media query Chairman Surinder Kumar said that with the help of electronic gadget’s technology the entire proceedings were held in a very strict and transparent manner with no scope for human intervention.
During the physical process, male candidates have to cover a distance of 1600 meters in 6.5 Minutes while female counterparts have to cover 1000 meters in 6.5 minutes. He informed that candidates have to wear a special jacket fitted with RFID chip while crossing certain point that entire process is recorded in a sensor installed at various locations.
He said that in the second process, males had to do 20 push up continuously while females had to throw shot put weighing 4 kg to cover a distance of 14.5 feet. The entire process was video graphed to make it more transparent.
Pertinent to mention here that recruitment drive were held in 22 districts in the State for the post of 5381 vacancies.
