57 FIRs registered against violators in Jammu, Poonch

POONCH, May 2: In a day-long drive against violators of COVID-19 SOPs and restrictions, Police of Jammu and Poonch districts here on Sunday registered 57 cases under relevant sections of law.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli, 19 FIRs have been registered against the violators of COVID SOPs.
“Some arrests were also made and few shops were sealed mostly in Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Gangyal, Bus Stand, Nowabad, RS Pura and Jhajjar Kotli areas of Jammu District”, he added.
Meanwhile, SSP Poonch Dr Vinod Kumar said that police stations wise special squads were constituted under the supervision of Additional SP Poonch Khalid Amin and drive was launched across the district with an aim to check violation of SOPs and guidelines.
He further told that during the day long drive, a number of people including businessmen and drivers of vehicles were found resorting to violations of COVID-19 guidelines. Many among them were arrested from the spot and 38 FIRs have been registered across the district in various police stations.
He further informed that 218 people were found roaming without face masks and a fine to the tune of Rs 43,600 have been realised from them.
“We appeal everyone to assist us in containment of virus and not to resort to COVID 19 SOPs violations at the risk of their lives”, said the SSP Poonch.
