JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday told newly passed out police personnel that their real test begins once they move out of the training academy because the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is completely different from rest of the states.
Saying that there are many issues Jammu and Kashmir faces that are different from other states of India, she said, “There are different challenges in Jammu and Kashmir region. In a sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir, you have to sensitively deal with the situation,” she said, adding that J&K Police is doing commendable job and sensibly handling law and order by exercising restraint. And, she added, “You have to end root cause of terrorism.”
The Chief Minister was addressing the passing out parade at Police Training Academy in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.”I congratulate all of you for completing the rigorous training but your real test begins how you handle Ak-47 and SLR while dealing law and order problem once you move out,” Ms Mehbooba Mufti said while addressing the passing out parade at Police Training Academy in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Ms Mufti however, also patted the police for curbing the drug menace and said, “you have also to counsel stone pelters, drug addicts.” “Instead of stones and bricks, the children should carry laptops, computers and books in their hand. You have to sensibly handle the situation,” she said.
The Chief Mminister also expressed concern over rising incidents harassment of women and asked Superintendents of police to strengthen women police stations.
She said that the matter of increasing ex-gratia of martyred police personnel has also been taken up with the Union Home Ministry.
