555th Guru Nanak Prakash Utsav celebrated in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD, Nov 15: The 555th Prakash Utsav (Birth anniversary celebrations) of ”Guru Nanak Devji”, the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikh Religion, who spread the message of peace and communal harmony across the world concluded here on Friday with thousands of Sikh devotees and other community faiths celebrating it with religious fervour, gaiety and devotion.
Celebrations were marked by offering prayers to Guru Granth Sahibji, recitations of Gurbani Keertans and Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchen).
The major celebrations of the concluding event was jointly organised under the aegis of Prabhandak Committees, Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad and Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha, Ashok Bazar here, where over 25,000 Sikh devotees and other community faith participated in the ”Vishaal Deewan” (Mass Congregation) by offering prayers to Guru Granth SahIb (Holy Scripture of Sikhs) at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, here.
The Prabhandak Committee, Presidents, S Baldev Singh Bagga (GSS), S Satvinder Singh Bagga (GSGSS), S Jaspal Singh Tuteja (GSGSS), General Secretaries, S Jagmohan Singh and S Harpreet Singh Gulati (GSS) and S Joginder Singh Mujral (GSGSS) said that the mass congregation began this morning at 11 AM continued up to 4 PM and was marked by the recitations of Gurubani Keertans and Kathas (Holy Hymns) by the renowned and reputed Ragi Jathas (Sikh Preachers).

Bhai Lakhwinder Singh (Sri Darbar Sahib, Golden Temple Amritsar), Bhai Amarjeet Singh of Patiala Punjab, Hazuri Ragi Jathas, Bhai Hari SInghji, Bhai Charanjeet Singhji, Bhai Jagdev Singhji, Bhai Harwinder Singh and other reputed Ragi Jathas who were especially invited from various parts of the country for the important occasion recited Shabad Keertans that stressed on imbibing the higher values of life and communal harmony for which Guru Nanak Devji strived.

The preachers also have thrown light on the teachings of Sikh Gurus who stood for national integration, peace, brotherhood and communal harmony.

They asked devotees to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Devji which are very relevant these days.

They preached that religious co-existence, harmony, peace and progress of all has been the way of life of all Sikh Gurus and is the message of every one.

Guru Nanak emphasised the oneness of God, saying ‘Ek Onkar,’ meaning ‘One Supreme Reality.’

He travelled widely, teaching that everyone, regardless of caste, creed, or gender, is equal before God.

His ideas became the foundation of Sikhism, a faith that emphasises truth, love, service, and humility. Guru Nanak Jayanti is not only a celebration of Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary but also of his teachings, which are timeless and universal.

His principles encouraged people to live honest lives, serve others, and see humanity as one.

His teachings continue to inspire millions to promote peace, unity, and social justice.

Observing this day also reminds followers to practice values such as selflessness and integrity, embodied in the concepts of Sewa (selfless service) and Simran (remembrance of God).

After the culmination of the congregation the traditional Guru-Ka-Langar (free community kitchen) was served to all the devotees where devotees sit in the same row with great discipline promoting the feelings of togetherness, fraternity and concern for fellow human beings. (UNI)
