54 bovines rescued

RAJOURI, July 10: The police rescued 54 bovine animals being smuggled to Kashmir via Mughal Road in various parts of district Rajouri since last night.
Official sources said that a police team from Dharamsal rescued four animals from a smuggler at Kallar and arrested accused namely Mohammad Arif, son of Nazir Hussain, resident of Badhanoo, Dharamsal whereas, three bovines being smuggled by smugglers on foot near Thalka were also rescued from their clutches with smugglers managed to escape from the spot sensing movement of police team.
Simiarly, Rajouri Police Station team intercepted a vehicle No. JK11A/ 4198 at Fatehpur and rescued five bovines with smuggler managed to flee from the spot whereas, 10 bovines were also rescued by another police team from Rajouri town with smuggler Shokat Ali, son of Bagh Hussain, resident of Gadyog involved in bid, was arrested on the spot.
Thanamandi police team also arrested a smuggler Shakeel Ahmed, son of Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Poshana in Surankote while he was smuggling 12 bovines from Palangarh link road area. All the bovines have been rescued.
Similarly, Kandi police team arrested Abdul Rashid, son of Mohammad Sadeeq, resident of Khandi Gali and Mohammad Shakeel, son of Wali Mohammad, resident of Mohra while they were smuggling 20 bovines and were intercepted at Upper Kandi. Cases were registered in this connection.
