JAMMU, Jan 30: Nagrota, Jhajjar Kotli, Manwal and Ghagwal police rescued 54 bovine animals and arrested three smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota Police Station led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma and SP Rural Dushyant Sharma laid a naka and intercepted two Srinagar bound trucks.
During checking, police rescued 27 bovine animals from the trucks and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Julfam, son of Nasimu of Uttar Pradesh and Mohammad Sultan, son of Ghulam Nabi of Panasa, District Reasi.
Meanwhile, a team from Jhajjar Kolti Police Station led by SHO Inspector Sanjeev Gupta rescued 12 bovine animals from a Srinagar bound truck, while the smuggler(s) managed to escape.
A team from Manwal Police Post led SI Kunal Singh rescued 1 bovine animal from a vehicle and arrested one smuggler.
In similar incident, a team from Ghagwal Police Station led by SHO Inspector Rajeev Kumar in coordination with DSB Samba under the supervision of Deepak Digra DySP Headquarters Samba and Dr Koshal Sharma, SSP Samba laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK08F-3745.
During checking, police rescued 14 bovine animals from the vehicle and seized it, while the smuggler(s) managed to escape from the spot.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Nagrota, Jhajjar Kotli and Ghagwal Police Stations and investigation started.
