50 officers get forced retirement

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 30: The Government today gave forced retirement to about 50 officers after declaring them as ‘dead wood’ on recommendations made by high powered committee headed by Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khandey.
Official sources said the Government ordered ‘premature retirement’ of about 50 officers after getting the report of the Chief Secretary led high powered committee. However, the Government didn’t release the name but has sent individual notices to the officers declared as ‘dead wood’ and retired prematurely from the services.
The high powered committee had been working on the list for past quite some time and had taken details from the Vigilance Organisation and other anti-graft bodies before finalizing names of the persons declared as ‘dead wood’.
“The Government decision was aimed at cleansing the administration and sending strict message to the corrupt officers,’ sources said.
